Hollywood's golden age
A self-guided walking tour by Here Before Us
Sid Grauman built the Egyptian Theatre in 1922 and the Chinese Theatre in 1927, where stars have left their handprints in the forecourt ever since. The first Academy Awards were held at the Roosevelt Hotel across the street on May 16, 1929, and the Pantages hosted the Oscars through the 1950s. Musso & Frank, open since 1919, is the oldest restaurant in Hollywood.
